Image Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning based on Optimization and PDEs

You are welcome to the international conference on “Imaging, Vision and Learning based on Optimization and PDEs”, August 29 – September 1, Bergen, Norway.

Registration deadline, including abstract submission for presentations and posters: June 15, 2016 .

It has become an established paradigm to formulate problems within image processing and computer vision as a partial differential equation (PDE), a variational problem or a finite dimensional optimization problem. This compact, yet expressive framework makes it possible to incorporate a range of desired properties of the solutions and to design algorithms based on well-founded mathematical theory. An increasing amount of research has also approached more general problems within data analysis and machine learning from the same perspective, and demonstrated the advantages over earlier, more established algorithms.

This conference aims to bring together experts on image processing, computer vision or machine learning based on optimization or PDEs. Topics of presentation include design and analysis of mathematical models, design and analysis of computational algorithms, and applications of such models and algorithms to specific problems in medicine or industry.

This conference also serves as a continuation of
EMMCVPR2015. A number of interesting topics appeared in the last EMMCVPR conference held in IAS, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. We will also use this opportunity to further explore these topics.

A conference post proceedings is planned, which will be published in Springer’s “Mathematics & Visualization” series. More details about submission deadlines etc. will follow later.

The conference will be held at Scandic Bergen City, Bergen, Norway, August 29-September 1,  2016.

Conference Chair:

Xue-Cheng Tai (University of Bergen, Norway)

Egil Bae (The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment)
